Support Available

Extended Furlough scheme:

The extended scheme will operate as it did in August so the government will pay 80% of wages up to a cap of £2,500 and employers will pay employer National Insurance Contributions (NICs) and pension contributions.

SEISS:

There are two more grants for the self-employed that can be claimed, contact us regarding the conditions of claiming these grants.
The extension will last for six months, from November 2020 to April 2021. Grants will be paid in two lump sum instalments each covering a three-month period.

The first grant will cover a three-month period from 1 November 2020 until 31 January 2021. The Government will provide a taxable grant covering 55% of average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment covering 3 months’ worth of profits, and capped at £5,160 in total.

The grant will be increased from the previously announced level of 40% of trading profits to 80% for November 2020. This therefore increases the total level of the grant from 40% to 55% of trading profits for 1 November 2020 to 31 January 2020.

Job Support Scheme:

To avoid having two schemes running simultaneously, JSS has been delayed. JSS will now launch when the new furlough extension ends, this scheme will run to end of March.

Government Grants:

Businesses required to close in England due to local or national restrictions will be eligible for the following:

For properties with a rateable value of £15k or under, grants to be £1,334 per month, or £667 per two weeks.

For properties with a rateable value of between £15k-£51k grants to be £2,000 per month, or £1,000 per two weeks.

For properties with a rateable value of £51k or over grants to be £3,000 per month, or £1,500 per two weeks.

Mortgage Holidays:

Mortgage payment holidays will no longer end today. Borrowers who have been impacted by coronavirus and have not yet had a mortgage payment holiday will be entitled to a six month holiday, and those that have already started a mortgage payment holiday will be able to top up to six months without this being recorded on their credit file.

How Chippendale and Clark are helping

Chippendale and Clark have already contacted all their payroll clients and started to arrange furlough claims for November. We are not charging for this work where a business is shut down in November. But where a business is trading still but using partial furlough we are restricting invoices to £40 per month to cover costs.

C&C have also been speaking with all their sole traders and partnerships about their eligibility to claim the SEISS grants. We are advising generally and specially when we are speaking to clients. Its important advice is sought in relation to these grants as they are not an automatic right and HMRC have started to investigate claims already.

C&C work monthly with most clients, so we have a tight control of each client’s profitability. We can advise on cash flow, future tax bills and whether innovation within a business is working. If you would like a modern accounts function that shows daily insights, please get in contact and we would be happy to help.
